Week 26

To support the work we are doing in fractions, we have been playing fractions games in class. This Family Friday, we taught our families how to play these games. Here are some online games that we can play through the IXL math Games link on the bottom right hand side of this blog:

• Equivalent Fractions games X.1 and X.2
• Compare Fractions games Y.1, Y.2, Y.6, and Y.12

Here's what's happening next week: 

• The Science Fair will take place on March 28th. Third grade students have been invited to participate in this event on a voluntary basis. If you and your child are interested in making a project, please have your child ask for a instruction packet on Monday. 
• We will have Dance class on Monday. Please remind your child to wear socks that can be removed for Dancing.
• We are going to the Armory on Tuesday.
• Friday will be the last day for our school Read-athon. Please help your child add up the total minutes for the weeks of reading. Even if your child does not have any sponsors, they should turn in their record sheet for a recognition of the reading they have done. 

The New York State ELA test will be administered on April 5th, 6th, and 7th. The NYS Math test will be administered on April 13th, 14th, and 15th. To prepare for this, we are reviewing reading, writing, and math strategies taught throughout the years and applying them to test type questions. This does not take the place of our regular instruction. We will continue to study China, participate in book clubs and learn new math.
