Thank you so much! I was so surprised by all the kind cards and lovely gifts from you and your children. This was truly been a great way to end 2018!
As the new year starts, we will have new units in math and reading. We wrapped up Mystery today and the kids enjoyed watching The Great Mouse Detective. They also spoke about the plot using language like detectives! In 2019, we will begin reading Information books. These Nonfiction texts are high interest and pushes our children to become experts in a topic. Our focus will be to not just collect details but to think about how those details connect to become main ideas.
We have also finished our math units on Multiplication and will move forward to use those facts to help us with our Division work. It would be helpful to continue practicing our multiplication facts, especially the 6, 7, and 8 facts which have always been tricky. A few kids have reported how they have practiced the facts with flash cards or skip counting. Those are great ways to practice!
See you in 2019! Have a beautiful and relaxing Winter Recess!
Welcome to Class 3-303' s website, where you will find information on what is happening in our class! There will be a new post every Friday during the school year.

- On Friday, we will have a wrap up of our Reading Mystery unit. The kids will finish up their reading partnerships and watch a mystery movie, The Great Mouse Detective. Your child may bring a snack to have during the viewing.

Week 15
Due to the fact we are going on a field trip on Monday, we will eat lunch at 1:00 pm back at the school. We are asking each family to make sure your child has eaten breakfast on Monday and to send in a snack for your child to have after the trip.
Thank you!
Here's what expect for next week:
- We are going to the College of Staten Island to see a show. Holiday Tales is a performance that teaches about the different celebrations of the world. We have two parent volunteers for chaperones.
- We starting a new math unit next week. This unit will take children focus on learning different ways to solve multiplication facts. It will also ask for missing factors, which is a precursor to division facts. It is helpful for your child to continue practicing multiplication facts. Many kids have said they've practiced at home with an adult or older sibling. To make it more challenging and exciting, try mixing up the order of the facts or asking missing factor questions ( 3 times what will make 15?) Here are some links to practice with:
