Welcome Summer!

It's been mad rush to finish but the summer vacation is in full swing! Many of you are already days into your travels and some are just enjoying these sunny days in the city. I hope that whatever your plans are, you and your child are enjoying it to the fullest.

Some families have asked what can be done so that your child maintains their learning through out the summer. Each child left the school on Tuesday with a blue social studies notebook repurposed for summer days. In each notebook are pages for practicing cursive writing, a reading menu and a writing menu. The menus have suggestions for writing entries but of course children can write and sketch whatever they want. It's just important to occasionally have a pencil in hand to keep those writing muscles strong. Many of the writing topics are about New York, which ties in to a large part of the fourth grade curriculum, the history of New York. As for reading, it's just important to keep reading!

If you are looking for books at your child's letter level or close to it, please check out the following link:  https://www.booksource.com/Departments/Booksource/Leveled-Reading/Collections-by-Level.aspx

As for math practice, you can always look on the math menu on the right side and check back on the links provided on the previous blog posts. Mastering multiplication and division facts will be essential for the fourth grade work that is ahead.

Finally, I want to thank you all for the amazing flowers, treats and cards generously given to me on the last days. I have appreciated most the support given throughout the year by our families and this has been a rewarding year on so many levels!

Have an amazing summer!
